Security and intelligent building solutions back at the Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice

The 20th anniversary meeting of experts from the field of security equipment, systems and services took place at the Exhibition Grounds in Prague- Holešovice on the new dates of October 23 - 25, 2013. The experts were also joined for already the second time by representatives from the field of smart housing, intelligent solutions and green buildings. The professional exhibition called PRAGOALARM / PRAGOSMART was once again held in the middle of the work week and for three days offered the ideal environment for organized as well as random meetings of representatives of manufacturers, importers and suppliers from the given industry with their business partners, potential investors and customers at the exhibitors‘ stands as well as in the lecture halls.

The successful linkage of the security field with intelligent solutions continued this year, but this time with a much greater emphasis on the thematic and visitor synergy that it brings. This was also reflected in the fairs‘ rich professional accompanying program.

The “Crime Prevention in Construction” conference was held on Wednesday, October 23, at the nearby Parkhotel, as the main accompanying activity of the PRAGOALARM / PRAGOSMART fair. Experts from the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (ÚNMZ), the Ministry of the Interior and the Police of the CR, as well as from the Grémium Alarm Association, the Czech Association of Security Managers and the Czech Mechanical Lock Systems Association were involved in the preparations of this conference. The conference featured professional presentations on crime prevention standards in building construction and their application in daily life. The conference participants also received the  ÚNMZ Anthology of Technical Harmonization called “Guidelines for Determining the Security Level of Facilities and Establishments Against Theft by Burglary According to European Standards.”

The Czech Green Building Council, www.czgbc.org, Pragosmart’s new professional partner, provided the official auspices for the PRAGOSMART fair, and together with its members prepared an interesting seminar on October 23 called “Smart Solutions for Green Buildings.” The aim of the seminar was to bring forth interesting topics related to the field of green building and energy efficient buildings. The seminar featured speakers from companies such as SKANSKA, Zumtobel, SIEMENS, ENERGYSIM, CISCO, SEVEn and Saint-Gobain, who presented their latest technology, products and processes. The seminar introduced building certification systems - BREEAM/LEED/SBToolCZ, offered advice on how to correctly create sustainable comfortable housing using green materials, and explained how lighting can have a significant impact on health and productivity. The speakers also covered the energy efficiency of HVAC systems and the energy performance of buildings, as well as cost optimization.

Smart housing was the topic of the day on Thursday, October 24. The FCC Public s.r.o publishing house organized the “Housing Perspectives IV – Security, Comfort, Savings” seminar at the Exhibition Grounds. The seminar introduced smart houses and apartments to professional stakeholders, not only from the perspective of using them comfortably, but also in terms of safety. Presentations focused on the fire security parameters of buildings, on privacy issues and on property protection were therefore made in this context. In addition to representatives of KOUKAAM, TECO and INSIGHT HOME, who presented the currently available technical solutions, and representatives of state institutions, presentations were also made by representatives of academia, who presented the latest news and innovations in research.

On Friday, October 25, there was a highly attractive seminar in the fair’s lecture room called “Let’s Get Ready for Changes in the Private Security Services Business,” which aimed to inform participants of the changes that will take place once the new Act No. 90/2012 Coll., on Business Corporations, comes into force, and how to best prepare for them. The seminar, which was jointly prepared by PRAGOALARM fair’s professional partners, the Czech Club of Security Services and the AMBO association, also informed the audience about the content of the draft law on private security services, which stage the law is currently in, and when and how to start actively taking it into account. Other items on the agenda included the latest information and insights from the field of Commercial Security, technical innovations and trends beneficial for the organization of work as well as for ensuing competitiveness, and assistive technology as an attractive opportunity for expanding the service portfolio of private security services companies.

The fair’s general professional partner, Grémium Alarm Association (AGA), organized a Roundtable on Public Contracts for Security Technology during the PRAGOALARM fair. The panel experts from AGA member companies as well as representatives from the public sector discussed the issue of public contracts for urban CCTV surveillance systems and other security technology; the setting of technical specifications for public contracts; why Czech technical standards are not used in these procedures; reducing the potential for corruption in public contracts; the role of ČSN transposing European standards in defining the technical conditions of contracts.

The Advisory Center for visitors was once again set up at the fair as a part of the Safe Country project. The center was operated under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior, the Police of the CR and the Czech Mechanical Lock Systems Association, and representatives of these organizations were available at all times to the visitors and responded to all questions having to do with security measures and crime prevention. They also offered advice on selecting high-quality products and on designing security measures in accordance with the customers’ specific needs.

The exhibitors at the fairs offered visitors the latest products and technologies for ensuring the security of family homes, residential buildings and other facilities. The fairs thus presented to customers high-quality products ranging from security lock cylinders, through camera, alarm and fire protection systems, security agency and ARC services, all they way to intelligent communication and access systems that provide residents with high comfort and savings.

The 20th anniversary edition of the Pragoalarm fair was once again visited by 2,000 professionals. All of them were treated to a surprise by one of the fair’s partners, Pivovary Lobkowicz, as every professional visitor received a free beer with each ticket. And for the first time ever, visitors had the unique opportunity to win JVC IP cameras and other prizes worth over 100,000 crowns on the fairs’ website. The contest was held in partnership with the main media partner, Technet.cz.
